Aniruddha RAY is a very well-known historian. He is professor at the department of Islamic History and Culture in Calcutta University and is at the head of the Indian Historic Congress Association.
His main themes of research are Economic and Social History of India, the relations between France and India and Medieval Indian cities. His other centres of interest are the French sources, the History of India from Bengali sources and the English penetration of India.
