Pierre Paris y la referencia alemana
Résumé
In the second half of the nineteenth century, when French archaeology took the path of professionalization and entered the university, the German altertumswissenschaft worked as a powerful model that was translated, adapted and reinterpreted to respond to the needs of the time. In Bordeaux, the archaeologist and art historian Pierre Paris (1859-1931) was in charge of creating and developing this new teaching. Famous for his investigations as a hispanist and pioneer in the research in Iberian culture, his work as a professor is little known. This work proposes, in particular, to review the action developed by Pierre Paris in the University of Bordeaux as a professor and scholar. The appreciation of the importance of the German reference in the action of Pierre Paris will be the guideline of this study which will be diachronic, from his formative years, around 1880, until the First World War.
En la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, cuando la arqueología francesa emprendió el camino de la profesionalización y entró en la universidad, la altertumswissenschaft alemana actuó como un modelo poderoso que se tradujo, se adaptó y se reinterpretó para responder a las necesidades del momento. En Burdeos, el arqueólogo e historiador del arte Pierre Paris (1859- 1931) fue el encargado de crear y desarrollar esta nueva docencia. Famoso por su labor como hispanista y pionero en la investigación de la cultura ibérica, su labor como profesor es poco conocida. Este trabajo propone, en particular, revisar la acción desarrollada por Pierre Paris en el seno de la Universidad de Burdeos como profesor e investigador. La valoración de la importancia que tuvo la referencia alemana en la acción de Pierre Paris será el hilo conductor de nuestro estudio que será diacrónico: desde sus años de formación, alrededor de 1880, hasta la Primera Guerra Mundial.
